Best Gadgets This Christmas

Of course gadgets are always a staple of any true Christmas. Whether it be the latest digital camera, the latest mp3 player, or the latest plasma/lcd tv; electronics and gadgets are what Christmas is all about.

So what gadgets can you get for your loved-ones this year? We’ve compiled a list below; some popular, some cliché, and some… well, slightly off the beaten track.

What does every gadget geek need this Christmas? Why, a USB snowbot of course!

Available from Thinkgeek.com this will make any nerd the envy of cubicle-land… powered by a simple USB, the snowbot comes complete with scanning light (red or blue), scanning noises and articulating metallic arms. See the snowbot below in all it’s video-type goodness:

Apple iPhone

Of course this made the list. Don’t be silly. Strictly speaking, it’s not 100% available here, seeing as it is only being released in Australia early 2008. However, you can buy one in the States, and then find someone to unlock it for you (thus freeing it to operate on all networks, as God intended), and hope they don’t turn it into a brick. Not that we would suggest such a thing of course. Steve Jobs wouldn’t like us if we did. And we fear Steve Jobs. So we won’t.

But c’mon, look at how beautiful this thing is… can you really wait?

Gaming Consoles

Gaming consoles are the must-have gadget for 2007. Whether it be Wii, PS3, or Xbox360 (good god I’m a great poet), one of these should be gracing a Christmas tree near you without fail. The Wii is leading the way in terms of internet searches, but the Xbox360 is following closely. And while the cost of the PS3 is still slightly prohibitive in terms of its widespread adoption just yet, the PS2 console is officially the best-selling game console of all time… so could the PS3 be far behind?

Yes, the finger drums are perfect for the executive who has everything. Find them at www.tesora.com.au … for only $30, you can impress the boss, while still staying within that budget that your pitiful salary demands of you.

Imagine… the boss has something to say in a meeting… he can now lead up to the announcement with a (very tiny) drumroll. Try not to laugh for bonus brownie points.

Have you seen this? If not, you really should. It’s Tesla coils playing the Mario Brothers theme song (yes, that’s actually the sparks making the sounds, not a bad midi keyboard). It’s undeniably the coolest thing ever.

A portable plasma ball. No real reason, apart from the fact that it’s what I’ve always wanted, but never received.
