Secret Santa Gift Ideas
November 18th, 2007Shopping for a Secret Santa gift for a work colleague that you don’t really know too well can be a real pain in the office. Especially if you have to buy for the boss! Usually you’ve got a spending limit—$5, $10 or $20—which is probably designed to make it easier, but can end up stretching the imagination to breaking point. What do you buy for someone you may not know that well, which will still put a smile on their face, but won’t offend them?
Here’s a mixture of fun and serious suggestions for the top ten Secret Santa gift ideas.
1. A six pack of beer: You can often pick up a 6 pack of at least one brand of beer for about $10. You’ll definitely find a light or mid-strength for around $10. There’s sure to be someone in the office who could use an extra six pack around Christmas!
2. Bottle of wine: Check the sale price tags at your local bottle shop—you can often pick up a good bottle of wine for less than you think, and stay within your Secret Santa budget.
3. Blank CD or DVD packs: You can never have enough blank CD and DVD disks for all the completely legal file saving that people get up to these days. You should be able to find a 50 pack of CD-R disks for less than $15.
4. iTunes card: You can buy an iTunes card with as little as $5 credit. Even if the person you’re buying for doesn’t own an iPod, they can use the card to buy music online to play on their computer or any MP3 player.
5. Cooler bags: If you’re buying a Secret Santa gift for the picnic or outdoors type, a cooler bag could be just the thing. Pay anything from $5 to $50 depending on your budget.
6. Movie posters: Most video rental stores and cinemas sell off their old movie promo posters after a film has dropped off the new release list. You could bag a classic poster for a work colleague.
