1. The Muppet Christmas Carol

Starring Michael Caine and a host of furry favourites retelling the Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic.
2. Scrooged

Starring Bill Murray, a little too cheesy at any other time of year, but just right for feel-good Christmas comedy movie.
3. It’s a wonderful life
(1946).
Starring Jimmy Stewart in his classic role of Christmas giving and redemption.

4. The Grinch
(2000) Rated [PG].
Starring Jim Carrey. The Dr Seuss Xmas story brought to life with Jim Carrey as the Grinch.
5. The Nightmare before Christmas
(1993). Rated [G].
Written by Tim Burton, and starring the voice talents of Danny Elfman and Catherine O’Hara.
6. Home Alone (1 or 2)
(1990). Rated [PG].
Starring Macaulay Culkin in his first “big” role.

7. The Santa Clause

Starring Tim Allen as a reluctant Santa Claus.
8. Bad Santa
(2003). Rated [MA15+].
Starring Billy Bob Thornton. A great modern comedy involving a crook and a kid at Christmas, but probably not one for young kids.
9. Silent Night, Deadly Night (Parts 1-5)
(1984). Rated [R].
Starring various people you’ve probably never heard of, except possibly for Mickey Rooney who shows up in the fifth installment of this typical 1980s horror flick.
10. Trading Places
(1983). Rated [M].
Starring Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis, A great comedy with some very young looking famous faces.
